An Emperor visits New Ferry Butterfly Park

The superb photo of an Emperor dragonfly was taken by John Davis at New Ferry Butterfly Park on 22nd July, during the Butterfly Identification training course. The male dragonfly was flying round the pond for most of lunch-time, severely trying the patience of the photographers! Eventually it settled and John got this excellent shot. A new species for the Butterfly Park, where we usually have hawker and chaser dragonflies.

And here is a really typical New Ferry Butterfly Park photo.

Towards the end of the Butterfly Identification course one group was walking past the "sundial" artwork when  a comma butterfly perched on it. So thank you, John Davis, for a lovely picture of our signature butterfly, sitting on one of our outdoor artworks: "Daylight Only" by Roy Lewis, made of recycled car and motorbike parts.
