Transition Town West Kirby are hosting a talk on Friday, 7th April at 7 p.m.

Fracturing Shale for Gas and Oil: The Science, Technologies and Consequences

A talk by Professor Denis Hall

The talk will focus on the fracturing of shale rock to release fossil fluids – the underpinning science, the resulting technologies and their consequence - with the aim of assisting informed assessment of potential benefits and risks of current UK policies.

A talk by Dr Jenny Brown, National Oceanography Centre.

Learning from past and present storms and using projections of climate change and rising sea levels to assess future risks  and inform future sea defence needs.

The Community Orchard in Grange Cemetery is maintained jointly by Incredible Edibles and Friends of Grange Community Park, in regular sessions on the second Saturday of every month from 3 - 4 p.m. and the fourth Friday of the month at 10 - 11 a.m. Note the new meeting point at the Scout Hut at the Lang Lane entrance to Grange Cemetery. Planned maintenance dates are:

A guided walk with herbalist Jesper Launder.

Discover the fungi on Caldy Hill and find out what's edible and what's not. Followed by mushrooms on toast!

Wirral Earth Fest Launch Event with Alastair McIntosh

Alastair McIntosh with a talk on the link between our care for the earth and our own inner lives, and the enduring meaning of St. Bridget in environmental activism. 

Supported by local new-folk band The Kirk Owls and The Storyfest Tellers. Tickets are just £5 and can be picked up at St. Bridgets parish office. Information: 625 4109

Wirral Earth Fest 2016: Spirit of the Earth

St Bridget's Church, Centre and Fields

This community festival includes music, stories and poetry, stalls, food, maypole dancing, craft demonstrations and Eric the Barn Owl. There will also be the opportunity to help paint a banner to celebrate the Festival theme, Spirit of the Earth. TTWK will be joined by Transition Liverpool and Planet Heswall this year. Entry is free, although we welcome donations to help us cover the costs.
